Haha a slightly more challenging version!
?
???
Try guessing! Okay maybe it's not that hard, but if it is then i'll post a less pixelated one(:
DA JIA HAO!
The answer for Guess-the-Instrument I is out! And here is the original picture:
As we can all see, it's a very innocent pipa sleeping and not a liuqin which needs california training, nor is it a CJ-erhu-7 which has four heads. I wonder if it has supernatural powers as well. But whatever is it, I dare say the dog's cuter.
And now for the 2nd instalment of Guess-the-Instrument! (If you can't tell what is this I'll... stick the concert '08 poster all over you! D:)
And tadaah!
hello! i have dived into my phone camera's photo archives and unearthed these photos, risking my veryprecious life! so be grateful to me! :D (btw, blogger photo uploading is sooooo slowwwww .______.)
COUNCILLOR! how could you! you're wearing a NON-SCHOOLAPPROVEDJACKET! don't you know that's the most heinous crime of all time! D:
now, let's see if i can find the one of all the pipa people sleeping during dazu during camp-
AHA!
huilin's pipa looks like it's going to drop soon :O
that's all for now! i pracced my diyierhu just now but i think it still sounds sucky, pfffft :/
limqing
Let's play uh, guess the instrument game! :DD
Answers will be out... when I don't feel lazy.
Unveiling... Instrumenta Whale!
(Eh see the sign put outside M4-01! I typed that, hohoho! It used to be bright yellow, now it is a yucky pale beige colour -_-)Hello NYCO!
What a refreshing change this is! The blog now looks a lot more personalized and colourful! And oh I am finally posting since 9th of August last year! If you check the archives well, you should realize that out of the 84 posts I actually contributed 17! And this is my 18th. (Yes, I did count) I feel ancient-old! It seemed like a flash of time since we were having the last concert! Hopefully I can hype up the uninformed about the upcoming NYCO Concert 2008 - just through my interesting experiences two years ago...
Actually, practising for the concert is not really as fearful as you think it can get! Surely, everybody practices hard for their performance items and hopes not to make even a single mistake during the actual night. On the contrary I was more worried about having my drumsticks flying into the audience (fretfully a big-shot).
(See the arty-farty poster two years ago! Quite a different projection from what we have for the concert poster this year!)
I recall quite fondly the ensemble item YQP had: Gu Shi (Drum of the Poem, for the hanyupinyin-hopeless). Not for how powder-ful the item was (heh heh, we put powder on the drums to make us look more mystical when we hit on them and the powder flies), or how we managed to be coordinated for the entire piece, but for puny details like how Chan Xin Yi broke her bass drum mallet. If you had not seen a bass drum mallet before, ask me during Dazu the next time okay. I shall show you a sample and explain that it takes a lot of effort, guts and luck to break a brand-new mallet, especially by a then Secondary One junior. I think she still remains proud of this incident. For the record, my sleepy father commented that the mallet-breaking incident made him more awake.
We also had a piano concerto Huang He (Movements II and III) with Chan Yi as our soloist. She was a very able senior from the Suona section. It was quite a hellish time practising that piece - It rivalled the difficulty of Di Yi Er Hu Kuang Xiang Qu, if not even more. The real jerky was during the actual performance that night: It was the finale piece! What a impressive finish, you would think. However, it was not as smooth-sailing as we all wanted it to be: Chan Yi stopped and paused at a specific point though it was not deliberate. My dog, were we shocked! "Hey, hey! Omg what happened?!" Fortunately Chan Yi recovered in time and the orchestra resumed. We later found out that Chan Yi momentarily blanked out. What an experience, even Mrs Ee was bummed!
(Imagine Mrs Ee looking like that... But of course not! Mrs Ee remained calm and composed, as always!)
And for other miscellaneous affairs like... the performance costume. My section, being hard-core rebels at heart, gamely omitted the ribbon detail from our costumes. (You know, we have to tie this long string into a ribbon at the back of our costumes to make our waists seem more defined.) We also refused to put on make-up... We took lots of cam-whorish photos backstage when we had the time to. We gossiped about instructors high-time! We speculated that a certain teacher-in-charge would diss us for our lack of make-up! We disturbed our friends from other sections! The list goes on...
(I disturbed your president, Sheila Koo. About what? Her lack of height of course! She forces my head down to pretend to look tall. Gaah, we were such youthful Secondary Two juniors.)
And so you can see now, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! Similarly, all practice and no fun makes NYCO a dull orchestra! We are not like that though! As long as we care to commit and give a best shot at it for the remaining 50 days... We will see the light at the end of the tunnel! We shall wow the audiences and make them roll down the stairs! We shall savour the flowers we received from our friends, make potpourri out of them and stuff them in our netballer friends' faces (or trackers, if you like). Most importantly, we shall be the one and only NYCO! No matter whether you are from massive army XYZ, arm-strong Ruanliu, lady-like Pipa, breath-controlling Suona, french-fries Sheng, Mrs Ee-tortured Dizi, instrument-bigger-than-me Cellobass, or pee-inducing YQP, you are part of NYCO! *Does a celebratory dance*
Your one and only handsome and cool and forever stylish,
Chewy-Fei :D
For your listening pleasure and learning!
沙迪尔传奇 (can hear this annoying guy who keeps coughing)
太阳, performed by HKCO for those who don't have the recording. This piece was written for this CO (in case you didn't know)!
Quality not promised! But may get you into the concert mood or something. Heh.
Laiweng wants the concert poster here so... here you go ._.
All rights reserved! Haha.
Concert in 50 days!
For everyone's amusement:
:D

Here is a peek into the lives of XYZ.As you know, life is monotonous for us erhu-wielding fellas. All we do is sit around with an instrument a tenth of our size and pull a bow across two measly strings. So you all say anyway. But life is indeed boring.
Every once in a while, something interesting gets our attention. Like today...
Contrary to popular belief, no, Siying is not grinning like that because she is looking at inappropriate content. Rather...
They are playing lame games.
Now let's take another look into the lives of seemingly ordinary XYZ members. Like Yingxuan. Commonly known as Ahmah, Auntie or Por Por, she is really very stupid.
Being autistic.
Being herself. Expressing herself through roaring is one of her therapeutic excercises.
Let's try keeping this blog alive by posting more interesting things, like spastic photos of our fellow seemingly-normal CO mates.
Bye (:
This was miao.
YAY my first time posting! thanks sheila for inviting us.
Anyway I love the new blogskin. GOOD JOB HANQING! and zimin right, haha and jasmine is so cute.
I have nothing much to say le. NYCO let's jiayou for our concert!

YO NYCO! haha! ytd was our BIG DAY, cos it was the first time we promoted our concert in front of the school! though it was quite last minute, it was very well done, dont u agree? really gotta thank the four banner carriers, layting, qianwen, yiping and laiweng (as u can see height is a requirement), the daji performers for their wonderful and SHUAI4 performance, the two highly-entertaining people, siying and yingxuan (aka ah gong and ah mah respectively) for advertising our concert, the people who cheered for us (esp huilin who gathered ppl to cheer tgt), ppl who helped to forward the msg on msn, last but not least, the committee who stayed back till very late to plan the whole presentation. Without all your efforts, our concert promotion wouldnt be a success! PS: i think it's really nice, attractive and effective! (:
Not only that, i've realised that u guys are really getting together and producing effective practices! THAT'S THE WAY MAN! haha! really, wonder if u guys realised, when we really give in all our attention and spirit, dazu pracs are actually fun and effective! Im really happy and feeling hopeful! But dont start to feel complacent, must aim for the next target. Our next target shall be clearing all the fundamental problems such as technical and intonation problems, so that we can all work on the MUSIC! AND continue to make all dazus effective! we shall all jiayou and CRASH SCH ON 18th JULY! (: haha! BUT, despite practising hard, you guys must also REST hard and STUDY hard ok?
And today was really fun! we were all singing the 'missing' parts of shadier, san shi li pu etc. Though we were all drained out by afternoon, reminiscing the syf times was really nice! but i've to apologize to the sec 2s if u guys felt left out! anyway, hope u guys have enjoyed urselves! OH WAIT! we're supposed to prac concert songs! so if Mrs Ee asks about what we did after she left, just say we practised the dazu pieces ok! :P We also have to thank the ruanliu and cellobass sec 2s for helping us promote CO to the visitors! they did a good job!
Im sure you guys have known about the bass that fell and broke this morning. It's true that it's in a very bad state, but it still can be repaired, just that it wont be ready before our concert. No worries, cos we still have extra basses, but arent as good as the broken one. You guys may wonder how it happened, but sadly, nobody witnessed it. Well, it's alright. What has happened has already happened. Instead of wallowing over the spoilt bass, we should feel glad that this didnt happen just right before our concert! Furthermore, this is a good lesson that we should all learn: now that concert is nearing, we should all take good care of our own instruments. For concert's sake, try not to let other people touch ur instrument and pls place it such that it is stable when not in use. Everything is alright now, so u guys dont have to worry and dont get affected by it! (:
alright, i gotta go! REMEMBER THERE'S SPRING CLEANING ON TUE AT 2.30PM! DO RMB TO BRING RAGS! in case some of u are unaware, we're doing spring cleaning cos our room is super dirty and the accounts dept ppl will be coming to do stockcheck, so our room has to be presentable! NO DAZU ON TUE! HAVE A GOOD REST AHEAD! :D
